Hunter's Top 45 Songs Of 2020

Welcome everyone to a special post! I will be going through my favorite songs, which have been ranked according to their performance on Crownnote, and I think therefore they are fairly accurate. Unlike top songs that people like Beluga or Waffle are doing, there are no cutoff dates or anything special where a song cannot be listed, other than being listed on my last years top 45. So this means that if I find a song that came out a few years ago that debuts I will list it if I like it. Let us begin with 10 that didn't quite make the cut of the top 45:

          • Ariana Grande - 34+35 (5 Weeks On) [#1, 2 Weeks] *Still Charting
          • Ava Max - Naked (14 Weeks On) [#14]
          • Machine Gun Kelly & Blackbear - My Ex's Best Friend (9 Weeks On) [#5] *Still Charting
          • Johnny Orlando - See You (12 Weeks On) [#10]
          • Halsey - I HATE EVERYBODY (10 Weeks On) [#7]
          • Justin Bieber & Quavo - Intentions (11 Weeks On) [#9]
          • Kygo & Kim Petras - Broken Glass (12 Weeks On) [#12]
          • Trevor Daniel & Selena Gomez - Past Life (10 Weeks On) [#6]
          • Justin Bieber & Benny Blanco - Lonely (9 Weeks On) [#5] *Still Charting
          • Johnny Orlando - Everybody Wants You (13 Weeks On) [#22]

Top Song Of 2019: Bazzi & Camila Cabello - Beautiful

45. Sam Smith & Demi Lovato - I'm Ready
Weeks On: 12 - Peak: 7

I was totally not expecting this collab to happen, but I think it sounded really good and wished it performed better on the charts. They both sound good here.

44. Zara Larsson & Sabrina Carpenter - WOW *still charting
Week On: 10 - Peak: 2

Originally, this didn't feature Sabrina Carpenter. However, I found that it sounds a lot better with this version than the original. I think both of the voices are great and the weird production and the skipping sounds pretty cool. Good song.

43. Halsey - You Should Be Sad
Weeks On: 13 - Peak: 9

This is where Halsey went like... pop country or some shit. I actually thought it sounded pretty decent and it just stuck with me. It was extremely catchy and that's how it made it here.

42. Harry Styles - Falling
Weeks On: 15 - Peak: 13

I could NOT get into this song originally. It grew on my very slowly but it is also the song that I was listening to on Hits 1 when I met my boyfriend and this song will always be in our hearts.

41. Maren Morris - The Bones
Weeks On: 13 Peak - 8

This was a catchy little tune that I wasn't into until it made its way onto Hits 1. I am not a huge fan of todays country, and I'm not even sure if a lot of people consider this 100% country. Anyways, she sounds really good and yeah.

40. Regard - Ride It
Weeks On: 13 - Peak: 7

This song was just weird. But that is what made it good. It was very catchy even though I couldn't understand half of what was being said in this song.

39. Ashnikko - Daisy*still charting
Weeks On: 13 - Peak: 6

This song was just a bop. Period. It's one of those songs that you listen to once and you're just hooked. It sounds pretty crazy and the lines are actually half cheesy, but the production slaps. It's great. Very good.

38. LØLØ - Hate U
Weeks On: 14 - Peak: 8

This song I found while I was being recommended songs on Spotify and I thought it sounded great and it applies to almost every single situation I have been with in a guy in real life so it just hit different.

37. Topic & A7S - Breaking Me
Weeks On: 17 - Peak: 17

The lalalala. The stupid lalalala. This song sounded like a mix of Lewis Capaldi and James Arthur but it wasn't nearly as bad, and the production and beat was pretty good. Too bad it only peaked at 17 with 17 weeks on.

36. Tate McRae - don't be sad
Weeks On: 18 - Peak: 18

This is the second song of Tate McRae that took part on my countdown. Some people may not like her voice, but I liked it and it was pretty catchy at first listen. It stuck for a while at the bottom though, as there were plenty of other better songs keeping up at the top.

35. Benee & Gus Dapperton - Supalonely
Weeks On: 12 - Peak: 6

Like... one of the first tiktok songs to debut on the countdown. At first, I thought it sounded not so good. However, it grew on me and starting sounding okay then good, thanks to the production. Gus didn't really help too much, but eh.

34. Sam Smith - To Die For
Weeks On: 11 - Peak: 2

This really took me back to the beginning of 2020. This song was extremely sad and relatable that is sounded really good. I just want somebody to die for. I'm happy though, because I've found that somebody, but that's why it's here.

33. 5 Seconds Of Summer - Wildflower
Weeks On: 15 - Peak: 6

This is the better song of the two that debut on my chart. It sounds exceptionally better and is more catchy. I like the vocals and the production. Pretty nice.

32. The Weeknd - Heartless
Weeks On: 18 - Peak: 14

Probably one of the longest songs to stay on the chart and be this low. This is because I liked the song but it was stagnant due to better songs keeping it still, which we will get to as we progress through this year end. Anyways, this song I believe (and will get hate) I thought was better than Blinding Lights but I like both very much.

31. Conan Gray - Maniac
Weeks On: 18 - Peak: 7

This was a random song by a random person we haven't seen ever and he made a bop. It sounded super good and very catchy. Oh, and I can't forget that it was come known because of tiktok...

30. Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now
Weeks On: 18 - Peak: 8

Dua Lipa's first single since I believe New Rules, Don't Start Now showed her inner talent. This was a very very good song that not even made waves on the radio, but made waves on almost every countdown. Unfortunately, there are 29 better songs than this.

29. JP Saxe & Julia Michaels - If The World Was Ending
Weeks On: 15 - Peak: 4

I know not everyone likes this song.. and a certain pastry will cry about this being higher than Don't Start Now, but just because it is slow does not make a song bad. This is actually a decent song when it comes to lyricism and voices. It was also relatable so that always makes it a plus.

28. Bea Miller - like that
Weeks On: 20 - Peak: 11

This song was one of the first Bea Miller songs that I liked. I heard the song from a certain movie that I will not name and thought it sounded nice, and it did. It stuck with me for 20 weeks because it was good and wasn't as bad as a lot of Bea Miller's songs.

27. Noelle Johnson - Close
Weeks On: 19 - Peak: 9

I actually was recommended this song by a friend because of a recent breakup and holy shit did it not hit hard. Her voice and the production sounded really nice and it just made sense with what was going on in my life. Wohah.

26. Megan Thee Stallion - Savage
Weeks On: 12 - Peak: 2

Now a lot of people know I am NOT a big fan of hip-hop or rap in general. However, not because of tiktok obviously, this one didn't make me want to chop my ears off and was actually catchy for once. Plus the dance is cool.

25. Taylor Swift - cardigan
Weeks On: 15 - Peak: 3

I was and still haven't really been a fan of Taylor Swift's newer albums, Folklore & Evermore. However, some of them stuck out to me and weirdly that one would be the lead single she pushed. This one, in contrast with the other ones, actually sounded like singing instead of just talking, which both of the albums contain of. A lot. It's great, the albums are great in lyricism but I need more than that.

24. Tom Walker - Wait For You
Weeks On: 13 - Peak: 1, 1 Week

This song I was surprised I liked because the guy sounds like Lewis Capaldi and James Arthur mixed and he's yelling. However, it turned out pretty great because of course it was slightly relatable at the time and it sounded good lyrically I was able to sing it.

23. FLETCHER - If You're Gonna Lie
Weeks On: 19 - Peak: 7

The first song of FLETCHER to be listed. Everyone knows (if they know me) than I am a huge fan of FLETCHER and I keep up with her music. Some people have forgotten about her after Undrunk that came out last year, which sucks because her voice here and on many other songs is amazing. She has the voice of a goddess and makes my homosexuality rage as well.

22. BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez - Ice Cream
Weeks On: 14 - Peak: 1, 1 Week

This song was very very weird but it sounded amazing with the mix between BLACKPINK and Selena. It didn't sound like a normal kpop song (which I hate kpop with a passion anyways) and it just sounded heavenly and the production kinda slapped for a song like this.

21. Shawn Mendes - Wonder *still charting
Weeks On: 14 - Peak: 2

The next single after If I Can't Have You, (which I prefer tbh) Wonder did not disappoint with it. Everything about the song is great in terms of voice, choice of lyrics, and the production. No wrongs here.

20. Conan Gray - Heather
Weeks On: 15 - Peak: 2

This song I started out absolutely hating it. But, I believe because of TikTok, I've been listening to it so much that I guess it just became better and better. I can see the hate with the song because the singing may sound weird but it kinda sounds like me singing anyways, and I think I sound immaculate.

19. Ashe - Save Myself
Weeks On: 17 - Peak: 4

After her hit Moral Of The Story, she released her next song with Save Myself and it sounded extremely well to me. Her voice shined here much better and differently than it did on her other song. It is a great song.

18. Ariana Grande - Positions
Weeks On: 9 - Peak: 1, 2 Weeks

If this album came out a little bit before the end of the year, this would have probably been in the top 5 because this has been growing on me exponentially and it never ceases to amaze me. Not even as a sound on TikTok, this is a great single to push out as it sounds very good lyrically and productionally.

17. FLETCHER - All Love
Weeks On: 20 - Peak: 5

The second FLETCHER song, with not really anything different to say about than If You're Gonna Lie. She sounds great and the only reason this is higher is the song is better lyrically and makes more sense.

16. Ava Max - Kings & Queens
Weeks On: 25 - Peak: 12

I'm not gonna lie, when I first listened to this song I didn't get as attached as I did at first. But I'm glad I did because this is just like the rest of her songs such as Sweet But Psycho & So Am I. Her album also slapped and had a slight push on my chart as well. She sounds good here.

15. Kelsea Ballerini & Halsey - The Other Girl
Weeks On: 14 - Peak: 2

This was a good bop. Kelsea and Halsey both sounded really good and I liked what the song was going for, because it may have been relatable, I don't really know. I just like these kinda songs.

14. Lauv - Modern Loneliness
Weeks On: 16 - Peak: 3

I, as of many, is not a big fan of Lauv. But this and the chorus sounded really different and exciting to me that I liked it so much to make it to #14. Plus, I was lonely during this time so yeah.

13. Pia Mia - Bitter Love
Weeks On: 15 - Peak: 1, 2 Weeks

An unexpected artist to debut, this song was exceptional. Her voice and the upbeat production sounded really good and it made it very catchy that I loved it a lot and made it to #1 for 2 weeks.

12. Taylor Swift & Bon Iver - exile
Weeks On: 24 - Peak - 9

A song from Folklore, this one stuck out to me when it was pushed to Hits 1 for a couple weeks before falling out. Taylor and Bon Iver both sounded good, even though like everyone hates Ivers' voice. It also sounded good because I was down during these times.

11. Dua Lipa - Break My Heart
Weeks On: 17 - Peak: 2

Dua Lipa hasn't been in my business until she released her album Future Nostalgia. I listened to the songs but like positions, only the singles stuck out to me. This song is really good she knows how to sing without giving too much.

10. Demi Lovato - I Love Me
Weeks On: 19 - Peak: 2

A song by Demi Lovato that I didn't know I would love so much. The production and singing was what made this song what it is and how it made the top 10 on my list. She doesn't sound as bad as she did on Sorry Not Sorry (even though I don't think she sounded horrible or think that is a bad song either) but it's a good song about self worth.

09. Elle Winter - Yeah, No*still charting
Weeks On: 15 - Peak: 1, 3 Weeks

This song came out of literal nowhere. When I discovered this, I knew it would make it very far and it got to this point. She sounds like she doesn't give an absolute fuck who she's talking about in the song and makes it an upbeat song that you usually don't see with these types of songs. She sounds amazing too, well done.

08. Ashe & Niall Horan - Moral Of The Story
Weeks On: 34 (merging both versions) - Peak - 1, 6 Weeks

I will get a lot of shit for this and I know a lot of people absolutely despise the song, even more so than the original. I did NOT find this song to be bad even with Niall Horan remixing it. The main reason this is so high and I found good is because of how much it related. And yes, before you all ask, when songs relate, they just sound better. They hit different. Don't ask why.

07. Tate McRae - you broke me first
Weeks On: 20 - Peak: 1, 1 Week

This song. I found this song and debut this song before it became mainstream on radio and whatnot. I originally found the sound on TikTok and it kinda related a bit so I listened to the full version and it sounded great. I know a lot of people don't like Tate's voice, but that wasn't a huge problem for me in this song.

06. Gabby Barrett & Charlie Puth - I Hope
Weeks On: 30 - Peak: 6

A country song?!? Yes, I guess you could say. A lot of people hate this song just because it is a country-esque song but in reality it's a goddamn pop song. Both Gabby and Charlie sounded good here and the chrous, being upbeat, just sounded good as hell.

05. Hollyn - i don't know if we can be friends
Weeks On: 24 - Peak: 1, 2 Weeks

Cracking the top 5 includes an unknown artist in the form of Hollyn. She created this beautiful song that really hit different with me since I have lots of doubts with myself concerning who I am around and who I am or were friends with. The beat is great, slightly upbeat, which I like. I prefer upbeat depressing songs over slower ones.

04. FLETCHER & Kito - Bitter*still charting
Weeks On: 25 - Peak: 1, 2 Weeks

This was and still is my favorite FLETCHER song to exist. Although the "bitter" part is kind of weird, it makes it unique and that's what I like about it. She sounds great and talks about her partner and shit and everyone knows that when it comes to songs like this, I will like it. What will 2021 FLETCHER bring us?

03. Halsey & Marshmello - Be Kind
Weeks On: 25 - Peak: 1, 5 Weeks

It wouldn't be a Hunter top 45 if Halsey weren't high on the chart. She created this bop with Marshmello that exceeded my expectations and wish it achieved for critical acclaim and mainstream success. Definitely my favorite Halsey song. She sounds HEAVENLY and even with the chorus she doesn't know how to not sound good.

02. Zedd & Jasmine Thompson - Funny*still charting
Weeks On: 24 - Peak: 1, 8 Weeks

This song at first listen I didn't really care but eventually it became one of my all-time favorite songs not even in just 2020 but in my 20 years of life. This song represents me in like all my relationships with friends or couples that it hit different. The production and beat by Zedd made this song exceptional with the beat drop that didn't sound like ass and Jasmine's voice was super good. Wish it achieved more success than the 2 seconds of fame it got.

And the #1 song of 2020 that totally no one is expecting...

01. Ritt Momney - Put Your Records On
Weeks On: 0 - Peak: -1,000,000

wait this isn't the worst list

01. Selena Gomez - Lose You To Love Me*still charting
Weeks On: 46 - Peak: 1, 3 Weeks

First, everyone knows this song has been #1 more times but just not in 2020. The longevity of this amazing, well-sung song is what made it #1 and I do not regret putting this here. Selena Gomez really strung a chord with my heart with this one. This one was actually DIRECTLY after a break-up as well. I seriously can't believe though how this song didn't last longer on mainstream but I am glad it was her first #1 on billboard. Hopefully she makes more amazing music like this.

Thank you everyone! Let's see what 2021 brings us in terms of music!
